Join your guide on the beaches of Bogue Banks to experience
the nesting behavior of the local sea turtles. The
entire Cape Lookout area is recognized as a Sea Turtle
Sanctuary and Protected Nesting Area.
One of the world’s most intriguing natural marvels takes
place quietly and involves tiny, vulnerable creatures. For a
few months each year on North Carolina's Southern Outer
Banks, sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in the
sand. Just a matter of weeks later, by the light of
the moon, the baby hatchlings scurry to the sea, remembering
forever their birthplace to which they will one day return
to continue the cycle of life.
While this adventure focuses on the migratory movement and
nesting habits of the local sea turtle species, it also
offers far more! Guests will leave with a passion for
the diverse nature and culture of this region, along with a
treasured memory of an evening spent focusing on the natural
wonders of the North Carolina coast. |
